Smart cards are weeks away

An article in the EDP this morning brought to my attention that the long awaited 'smart card' for use on Norwich buses was only a matter of weeks away. Norfolk County Council introduced the new Holdall card today at the bus station. As of the 14th April, it will be available to use on Park & Ride buses only, with the aim to spread the validity onto all city buses later in the year. Click here for the full article.

Here is an extract from the County Council's website: "A Holdall smartcard is a plastic card that fits in to your wallet or purse. It has a chip which stores ticket information and cash electronically, making it quicker than cash transactions on the bus and storing your season tickets securely."
