Anglianbus 311 AO57BDY running the 124 Service in Thorpe End in August 2012 |
Two fire crews were called out to the slip-road from
Bluebell Road onto the A11 Newmarket Road at 4.15pm yesterday afternoon after a
small fire started in the engine of an Anglian Bus.
The bus in question was Anglianbus Optare Solo AO57BDY on 124 duties.
The crews used a dry powder extinguisher and hose reel jet
to extinguish.
There was only one passenger aboard and the driver was
unhurt. The bus did cause traffic congestion for a short time and the fire
crews left at 4.34pm.
Some readers may also be interested to know that Anglianbus Traffic Control Minibus RJ56TYK has been running some afternoon duties on the 124 Service since the incident.
RJ56TYK is pictured running the 124 Service on Friday 28th December the same day the Solos engine caught fire. Presumably replacing the bus on what was supposed to be its next outbound service.
