Royal Norfolk Show Buses

I'm sure you all know that the Royal Norfolk Show took place at the Showground today and yesterday. And as usual, local companies were providing special services to and from the event with First operating the 100, Konectbus laid on extra buses on the 4, whilst they also offered a brand new service from Harford Park & Ride numbered the 400. Yesterday, I ventured out with my camera to photograph some of the workings.

I was planning on seeing Norwich City's new kit for the Premier League be unveiled at 10 o'clock so my day started bright and early to allow myself spotting time at Harford Park & Ride before catching the bus to the city centre.

Due to Costessey Park & Ride being shut due to the extra traffic up those parts, Konectbus diverted their service 10 which runs to and from the hospital. For two days only, it operated from Harford. 803 BL57OXM is seen above in the early morning sun heading off towards the hospital.

Harford's entrance and exit have recently been resurfaced, with some very fine loose chippings creating a rally car effect as the buses drove past. Here, 802 BD57WCZ is seen kicking up some dust whilst working the special 400 service direct to the Showground.

As mentioned earlier, First were also operating their annual 100 service. This year it was once again operated by some of Norwich's newer vehicles, namely a selection of their B9 Gemini fleet. The two new livery examples of 36172 and sister 36180 BD11CDZ were noted as was Blue Line branded 36168 BD11CFN.

Much to the public's delight, First's two Routemasters were also employed once more. 39480 can be seen behind 36172 in the photo above. Neither were displaying the route number however.

A surprise working was one of Norwich's new StreetLites. 47511 SN64CRX was working the 100 most of the day, after working the morning 600 from Harford Park & Ride to County Hall earlier in the day.

During the day, I also visited Postwick and Sprowston Park & Ride for the next two parts of our Park and Ride series. To catch up, click here for Part 1 (Harford) and here for Part 2 (Thickthorn).
